GRASMERE GINGERBREAD - PURRFECT PAIRING EP2

Casper is back with the second instalment – and you’re in for a treat!

This pairing series is all about matching up our chocolate with wonderful things. Where better to start than Sarah Nelson’s World-Famous Gingerbread.

A visit to The Lake District would not be complete without a stop to this quaint little shop. Invented back in 1854, the secret recipe has gained worldwide recognition - with visitors queuing from dawn till dusk to enjoy this one-of-a-kind bake.

Voted “Best Gingerbread in The World” – we would say this treat is more of cross between a biscuit and a cake, with a spicy-sweet taste. Very different to what you would expect from your typical shop bought sorts!

It’s no surprise that ginger and chocolate as a combo is simply a winner. Dark is typically the chocolate of choice, working wonderfully with the heat from the ginger.

With the gingerbread and it’s added sweetness from being a baked good, we decided to match with our Hallmark Milk Chocolate.

Why you ask? Yes, we’ve gone against the norms. However, this isn’t any old milk chocolate. Packing a high 44% in cocoa content – it brings that deep cocoa flavour which you would expect from a dark bar, along with fudge-like richness from the dairy. Resulting in a pairing that lets the bake take centre stage - whilst adding a sense of indulgence like no other from the comforting, rich Hallmark Milk Chocolate.
